AITUC extends all support to the employees of ordnance factories in their struggle to save the Defence Industry!
The Government of India in violation of all its past written assurances have arbitrarily taken a decision during the COVID-19 pandemic period to convert the 219 years old Ordnance Factories into a Public Sector / Corporation. The whole intention is to handover the National Assets to the Crony Capitalists and Private Corporates through Corporatization route. The Ordnance Factories are having assets worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh Crore and 62,000 Acres of land. The land for these factories are given by the State Governments and the Farmers.
These prime lands cannot be handed over to the vested interest of Private Corporates. Ordnance Factories are the fourth force of the Defence of our Country and are War Reserve. These factories like Army, Navy, and Air Force should be directly under the control of the Government, since they are for the Defence preparedness of our country and not for any commercial purpose.
The AITUC have submitted a detailed representation today to the Prime Minister and Defence Minister. In its letter AITUC has pointed out about the irregularities in the EOI cum RFP (Tender) floated by the DDP for appointment of a consultant for implementing the Corporatization process of Ordnance Factories. AITUC has informed the PM & RM that there are already 2 complaints lodged with the CVC and when the CVC is inquiring the process we fail to understand that how the officials have already finalised the contract.
AITUC has urged upon the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister to reconsider the whole matter and to withdraw its decision to Corporatize the Ordnance Factories in the interest of National Security and Defence preparedness of our Country. AITUC extend its full support to the 80,000 strong workforce of Ordnance Factories in their struggle to save the Ordnance Factories. AITUC fully support the decision jointly taken by the Defence Employees Federations to go for an Indefinite Strike against the Government’s decision from 12-10-2020 onwards.
